Currently there are 110 children living in The Sunbeam Village in Baiwan. We have continued to admit children during this last year, all from tragic backgrounds.

We now have 6 undergraduates and have 3 graduates out in the work force. Approximately half of our children are now attending vocational, technical and secondary schools in Qingyuan and near-by cities. The remainder of our children are in primary and pre-primary schools locally. Many of our older children who have left our Sunbeam Village maintain close contact with our staff and with members of the Board of Directors.

We have 26 full time members of staff and one part time staff member working in The Sunbeam Village, led by our Director Mr.Yan Wei. Mr. Zhang Feng (Frank) works closely alongside Mr. Yan Wei as Assistant to the Director. Our professional staff of social workers, teachers and a medical officer provide an excellent support team for our Sunbeam children.

Our children have many organized activities throughout the year, including trips outside Baiwan, community service, orienteering, BBQ’s and special parties.

The playgroup started in September 2005 continues to be successful and we now have over 30 children in the group. The playgroup serves children from the local community who live in abject poverty. They enjoy organized activities, supervised play, a nutritious meal and a snack each day. They also participate in special events organized for our Sunbeam children.
