What does one do when they hit quarter life crisis? Something stupid? Yes, but with a reason; to raise money for a charity and I have chosen Sunbeam Children’s Foundation. I chose to encounter the Gobi March as I saw it was a test to push my limits even though my mum has touch down quite a few times and also to tell my grandchildren with pride.

When I was told about the Gobi March I felt a rush from my inner self who told me to do it and the Race dates slotted into my diary perfectly. After paying the deposit for the Race the whole idea felt surreal and I found out more and more about how tough the race was it freaked me but nevertheless, “On guard!!”.

I knew I had to start training and change my lifestyle and since then I’ve been training hard (hardcore), ditching all my friends and social events (loser), reading lots of related materials (geek) and not least the comment I got from my brother, “Dude you are so hardcore, you’ll never find a boyfriend!” and I replied, “So, people told me to learn how to cook and I stayed at home to learn how to cook and never found a man either because I was too busy staying at home!!”.

What the heck, I’m only a quarter way through my life still got 75 years to go, that’s if I live to 100!

Please donate, every dollar counts and its for a good cause!!

  1. it is admirable that you have such boldness to take such a step to make your life more meaningful. lots of ppl won’t have the guts to do that. i’m so proud of you joc!!!

i’m still thinking of when i can quit my job so i can do habitat for humanity. i feel very disillusiioned by the corporate world doing things that have no real meaning every day from 9-7..

the tough thing is the person in charge of the habitat for h’s hk office told me i need to form a group of 8-10 in order to apply for a building job— which is quite a big obstacle –psyching yourself up and risking not finding a job after a month of building houses for the poor in sri-lanka/india/indonesia is challenging enough- let alone find 7 others who have the same mentality….looks like habitat is really trying to make things hard for me…

no worries tho! i’ll figure it out!!! maybe you should come along after gobi march - so at least i got 1 person to join me for habitat–plus ur 3 gobi mates lol since you’re so into helping people *wink

  2. When I first met you and found out that you too were doing the Gobi with Stephane I was in awe and admiration!!! Its because having done an action race myself and been on long hikes to understand and realise the terrain and the weather you and the others will be experiencing…is just surreal.

Keep up the good work on the training, the diet, the discipline and the mental preparation.

I’ll be keeping up with the race online.

  8. way to go cheuk!! hope you are enjoying the adventure and experience!!

we are all here mentally supporting you and surely your past few months of “no go-out at night” and be a hermit at home and joc turned gym-junkie would have paid off!!

your courage in taking on this challenge has just added yet another charismatic and admirable element into your already wonderful personality!

    keep it up! :D
