Good question, no one can answer and the answer will only come to you on the day! From experience stomping on your feet non-stop definitely harms you feet! This point is clear. During Gobi I saw people cutting open their shoes opening a lip so their toes could poke out and others not taking their shoes off at night just incase they can’t fit their feet back into their shoes the next day.
I’m a size 5 1/2 and during Gobi I took a size 7 shoe along and my feet did blow up to that size and bigger, I remember not being able to fit my feet back into my shoes after the long day. One smart guy told me to dunk my feet into the cold river which was just next to our tents, after 20mins my feet did shrink and safely I could carry on with my intact shoes!
This time I plan to take a size 61/2, fingers crossed my feet won’t blow up any bigger!
