The Atacama Crossing the 2nd series of 4 deserts, is a self supported footrace across 250 kilometres (150miles) across the Atacama desert in the north of Chile. The unique feature of the Atacama desert is that it has been around for 15 million years and it is 50 times more arid than California’s Death Valley, being at high altitude and the harshest and driest environment that man can set foot. The race consists of 6 stages, lasting 7 days and each competitor are required to be fully self supported carrying 7 days worth of food, gear and mandatory equipments.
