• December 1996: Sunbeam Children’s Foundation incorporated in Hong Kong under the Companies Ordinance as a limited company and recognized by the Hong Kong Government Inland Revenue Dept. as an approved charitable institution whereby tax exemptions are allowed, subject to certain limitations.
  

• December 1997: Ground breaking ceremony for the construction of The Sunbeam Children’s Village held in Baiwan attended by officials of Baiwan and Qingxin, Sunbeam Directors, donors and volunteers.
  

• May 1999: The official opening of The Sunbeam Children’s Village.
  

• May 1999: Admission of first dormitory students.

Funding has been raised by corporate donations, fund raising events and the sale of Sunbeam items e.g. Calendars, Christmas & note cards, T-shirts.

The foundation is composed of a group of volunteers with backgrounds in business, medicine, law, special education, social work and other fields. The group has no political or religious affiliation.
